I was working with site thumbnails today. I used to use the girafa services but they discontinued their thumnail service a couple of months ago. I discovered the shrinktheweb.com thumbnail service a couple of days ago and I liked it. So, today I was writing PHP code that would connect to shrinktheweb and fetch the thumbnail. I wanted the code to save the thumbnail locally before displaying it on my cbtrends.com site. After a couple of hours of trial and error everything worked to my satisfaction.

Now, it seems that the site performance has degraded with all the features I am adding and I will need to spend the next couple of days optimizing tables and sql queries. Frankly speaking, I am satisfied with the progress. I wish I had more time to spend on development of CBtrends.com.

The next logical step for me would be to develop the members area. I checked the numbers today and was shocked to see that more than 2,500 people became members of CBtrends.com. I definitely need to improve the membership area.
