Are you eating cranberries?
Well, if you aren’t then you should start making cranberries a part of your daily menu. Why? Because eating cranberries has a number of very desirable health effects.
- It was noticed that flavonoids in cranberries help reducing the tooth decay by whooping 80%. The reason for these stunning results is that cranberry contain quercetin and myricetin which inhibit the enzymes that cause tooth decay.
- Cranberries are rich in malic, quinic, and sitric acids. The malic, quinic, and sitric acids bind themselves to the trapped fat flushing it out of the body. Another acid called arbutin is an great antioxidant that regulates the levels of insulin thus controlling cravings and overeating. Many dieting experts recommend eating cranberries or drinking unsweetened cranberry juice at least twice a day.
- Improved levels of good cholesterol (HDL). Drinking cranberry juice daily helps to keep arteries clear of plaque. As a result, the level of good cholesterol increases by almost 10%, better circulation of blood in the body. These two effects alone reduce the risk of having a heart attack by almost 40%.
- Eating cranberries or drinking cranberry juice reduced the reoccurrence of urinary tract infections. The hippuric acid that is contained in cranberries is a good antibacterial agent that prevents bacteria to adhere to the urinary tract walls.
